2012 National Showdown - March 11

The first event in 2012 will be a special standalone event. The National Showdown NAS Cup will run for the first time and feature Australia's best shooters in a NAS format competition.
The prize money will be higher than usual as well as being awarded the NAS Cup.

The event will kick off on March 11 @ Diamond Valley Archers, VIC Rego opens at 9am and practise commences at 9:30am. Scoring starts at 10am.
Scoring will be a World Archery registered 50/720 round (so you can shoot for badges and records) followed by matchplay.

NAS athletes @ DVA Indoor

Many NAS athletes turned up to compete at the DVA Indoor Tournament on January 21st. NAS competitors took the top 7 places with Sten Nigol shooting an incredible 589 ranking and then defeating Marcel Verstegen in the finals. Karina Marshall used her NAS finals experience to defeat Marcus Anear in the bronze medal match.

Following the first event we conducted this interview with Fiona. It missed the first wave of publications and we thought we would offer it now. Fiona had a dominating series. She was the top qualifier in the first 2 events and medalled in each event and the finals.

The archery equipment industry is a massive one, with a huge variety of brands produced all around the world. The USA is a major source of this market with large corporations and small back yard manufacturers both doing very well.
So what equipment was favoured by the NAS athletes?

After massive rainfalls today the final event of the 2011 series has been moved from Box Hill to Diamond Valley.
Melbourne experienced 30mm of rain leading to flooding in many areas, including Box HIll City Archers which is located in an water overflow area.
DVA will now host the event which is looking for an improved day with some showers in the morning but clearing later in the afternoon. However being Melbourne, no one really knows.
